Channel 9 aims to be a local station, but it also provides viewers with a wide range of other programming, most of which is unable to be seen elsewhere.

Using its affiliation other regional stations in New Zealand, it shows a number of national and international programmes from other regions during its primetime schedule.

Among these are Drive, a popular motoring and motor-racing programme which concentrates on Grand Prix, Indy cars and Super Bikes. It is extremely up to date, with each week’s show dealing with racing held only days before.

Among the Canterbury shows available are Rob’s Country, a farming show; and Thunder at the Glen – stock-car racing from Woodglen near Christchurch. Another is Pete Smith Hosts, in which Christchurch identity Pete Smith interviews sporting legends, often including those from the South.

Toyota World of Wildlife, another magazine show, but one dealing with wild animals internationally, are also on the schedule.
Travel enthusiasts are also catered for with Around The World in 90 days.

The station also carries popular Austrlian content like Bush Tucker Man, an Australian survival guide and On the Water dedicated to, and made by, sailing enthusiasts.
