Art lovers have a chance to take part in a special auction this evening.

Dunedin's Rotary Club and the Zonta club have joined forces to host a Dinner and Green Apple Auction.

Tonight's auction at the Glenroy Audition will raise funds for the Green Apple project, run by the Edgar National Centre for Diabetes research.

The auction features a selection of artworks and jewellery, donated by nine well known Otago artists.

All funds raised will go to the Green Apple project, which will track 500 Otago children over a two year period.

The study aims to determine whether environmental changes influence the development of obesity during a child's growth.
