CTU questions why unemployment is rising

The Council of Trade Unions has questioned why unemployment is rising while New Zealand's gross domestic product is also on the way up.

The CTU says growth of 0.6% in the three months to June is encouraging.

But unemployment rose in the same quarter, with few prospects for an improved jobs outlook.

He called on the Government to take a more active approach to job creation.
