Driver dies after crash

A driver has died following a crash just south of the Taieri River bridge this afternoon.

Dunedin and Mosgiel Police responded to the incident on State Highway One about 2pm.

The crash involved a truck and a small four-wheel-drive vehicle.

The driver of the four-wheel-drive died at the scene.

The truck driver was taken to Dunedin hospital for a check up.

Traffic has been diverted, and the Serious Crash Unit will investigate.

Police are trying to ascertain the identity of the driver.
