Hearing date set in Saddle Hill quarrying dispute

A hearing date has been set in a dispute over the effects of quarrying on the Saddle Hill skyline.

The Environment Court has confirmed a hearing will begin on the 18th of December.

The issue has been argued for decades, since a quarry was first opened on the hill.

The DCC more recently entered a mediation process with quarry owners Saddle Views Estate Limited, after it became concerned about quarrying in a protected landscape conservation area.

That process failed.

The hearing is expected to last no more than two days.
