Michael Woodhouse promoted within his party

Dunedin-based National list MP and senior Government Whip Michael Woodhouse has been promoted within his party.

Mr Woodhouse will be a minister outside Cabinet with responsibility for the Immigration and Veterans' Affairs portfolios.

The reshuffle, announced today, means an end to Mr Woodhouse's time as Whip.

He told 9 Local News today he would resign from that position to devote more time to his new portfolio.
