National Powerlifting Championship starts today
The National Powerlifting Championship started at the Edgar Centre today, and will continue on until Sunday.
Ninety five powerlifters will be competing, travelling from as far south as Invercargill and as far north as Whangarei.
Event Manager, Charles Abraham, says there are even a few world-ranked powerlifters in town, who might try and crack some world records.
He says even the smaller competitors potentially lift up to three times their own bodyweight, making it an interesting competition to watch.
