New Bill expected to update sales rules
A new Bill making its way through Parliament is expected to update rules around door to door sales.
The Door to Door Sales Act was passed in 1967, but has not been updated since to take into account today's telemarketing techniques, or electronic payments.
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs put out a discussion paper in June last year, and more than a third of people commented on direct selling and asked for tougher regulations.
The Consumer Law Reform Bill is expected to pass through Parliament in September.
