A Dunedin woman has been named as the new manager of the Chinese Garden.

Margo Winchester will start work at the Garden in January.

Dunedin City Council General Manager Community Life, Graeme Hall, is delighted by the appointment.

He says hiring Winchester was the result of an extensive search for somebody who understands the commercial world, and has a passion and enthusiasm for tourism.

Winchester has a background in hospitality, education and business, and says she's looking forward to having the chance to develop what should be an iconic attraction in Dunedin.
