New Zealand dollar falls overnight

The economic situation in the United States pushed the New Zealand dollar down overnight.

The kiwi fell to 81.9USc this morning, down from 82.2 yesterday.

The small decrease came as negotiations stalled between US policymakers, who're working to prevent billions of dollars of automatic spending cuts and tax hikes.

Those cuts may push the US economy back into recession.
