Operation Roadrunner nets offenders

Two offenders will end up in court after being netted during Operation Roadrunner, which is targeting driving on the Southern Motorway.

A 17-year-old from Taieri Mouth was caught driving at 164 kilometres an hour on Friday night.

Sergeant Dave Scott says he was charged with illegal street racing and dangerous driving, after turning his lights off in an attempt to evade police.

Early on Saturday morning, a Dunedin man was stopped and found in possession of cannabis, and to be breaching bail.

The man ended up in custody, his plight not helped by a decision to kick the officer who stopped him.

The operation will continue until July 7
