Police deliver "king hit" to southern cannabis growers
In breaking news, Police are claiming to have delivered a "king hit" to southern cannabis growers, after executing five arrest warrants.
The arrests in Otago and Southland have been made as part of Operation Canary, targeting cannabis growing police say is linked to a multi-million dollar syndicate.
They follow the recent arrest of a Dunedin man.
The five face a significant number of charges relating to cultivation and sale of cannabis, in an operation police believe has been running for 20 years.
The cannabis has been grown in Western Southland, Fiordland and recently in the Queenstown Lakes area.
