Police warning residents to take care of their personal safety
Police are warning residents to take care of their personal safety in Dunedin, after a weekend marred by a series of vicious assaults.
Those include one in which a man was attacked from behind by offenders who then kicked and stomped on his head.
In another incident, a 36 year old man turned up at the Dunedin Hospital emergency department early this morning, and threatened staff with a wheel brace.
In most of the incidents the offenders were arrested and will face court.
And in most, alcohol played a big part for both offenders and victims.
Police say Dunedin is still a safe city.
But they are warning in the lead up to the festive season, people coming to town at night need to consider their personal safety, and make sensible decisions.
