Report shows October cold and wet
It will come as no surpise to residents still wrapped in winter layers that October was wet - and cold.
Raineffects latest report shows westerly winds persisted throughout the month, with a series of fronts, troughs and low pressure systems bringing rain to all of Otago.
The month was unsettled with few anticyclones bringing relief, though rainfall in Dunedin was 13% below average at almost 57mm.
For farmers, the weather means good growth before October was slowed, and crops are no longer ahead.
For city residents, it means umbrellas were blown inside-out, beanies were pulled low over eyes, and shivering was common.
