Study of emergency workers reveals they experienced 'dual jeopardy'

'Dual jeopardy' is the name researchers coin to describe workers who are exposed to dangerous environments, while simultaneously undergoing personal trauma.

A new study of 600 front line emergency workers attending the Christchurch earthquakes has revealed they experienced 'dual jeopardy'.

And the research also reveals the stressful roles have ramifications for the psychological and physical health of these workers.
