Youth wage policy receives luke-warm response from employers association

As the Government faces mounting pressure on the state of manufacturing and the value of the dollar, it has thrown a new policy into the mix.

The starting-out wage allows employers to pay teenagers less than the minimum wage, an initiative it says will provide skills and work experience.

The policy has received expected criticism from opposition parties, but also a luke-warm response from an employers association.
