Throughout New Zealand February is Bikewise month, and for the past three years Sport Otago and the DCC have co-ordinated events in Dunedin.

Man to appear in court on driving charges

A 43 year old man appeared in Dunedin District Court this morning, after allegedly drink driving, failing to stop and threatening to kill a Police officer, on State Highway One near Pigeon Flat last night.
Senior Sergeant Chris George says a vigilant member of the public alerted them to the man, who was driving with a flat tyre, and was in breach of his bail conditions. ›read more
Electricity consumers may benefit from competition

Dunedin consumers may be set to benefit from increased competition as Genesis Energy opens bidding for a South Island customer base.
The move follows the announcement of electricity reforms which, for the first time, will give access to generation capacity in the South Island.
The reforms mean Genesis will gain Tekapo A and B power stations. ›read more

Witnesses to vandalism asked to come forward

Police are eager to hear from anybody who may have seen a large man in a yellow t-shirt damaging shop windows.
The man was allegedly spinning and performing karate kicks at around 8.40 on Friday evening when he was caught on security camera.
Senior Sergeant Steve Aitken of the Dunedin Police is eager to hear from anybody who may have witnessed the vandalism or has information about the man. ›read more
Concern over way children are graded
