Pacific Blue ends Dunedin to Auckland service

Airline Pacific Blue has permanently grounded its daily Dunedin to Auckland service.
Company spokesman Phil Boyen told 9 Local News that the route will no longer exist after September the 15th.
The change is one of several announced today in the company's restructure of its Domestic New Zealand service. ›read more
Pesticide residue results not favourable for New Zealand fruit and vegetables

The Food Safety Authority's latest pesticide residue results for New Zealand fruits and vegetables were the worst ever, according to Doctor Meriel Watts of Pesticide Action Network.
It was found that 94% of the samples of fruits and vegetables contained residues. ›read more

Statistics New Zealand released figures today revealing mobile internet access plays an increasingly important role as New Zealanders use the Internet both at home and away.
In over half of households with the Internet in 2009, a laptop or a hand-held computer was used to access the Internet at home, five times more than in 2006. ›read more

A bill proposing to cap lender interest rates was voted down at its first reading last night in parliament.
Labour MP Carol Beaumont's Consumer Credit Bill would have allowed maximum interest rates to be set, and required lenders to be confident a borrower would be able to repay a loan. ›read more

The Dunedin born and educated commissioner, who worked in Dunedin in the 1980s, says his term is up in April next year, and following a conversation with the Police Minister, decided not to continue in the role. ›read more
