Is the council right to delay Town Hall upgrade?

Last week the Dunedin City Council announced it was to delay plans to refit the town hall.
The decision has left promoters and town hall staff scrambling to prepare for the year ahead.

ACC New Zealand Games to attract many to the city

The ACC New Zealand Masters Games in Dunedin are just ten days away, and games officials are busy putting the final touches on the preparations.

The water supply for Mosgiel, Kinmont, Braeside and East Taieri residents has been switched back to the Mosgiel borefield.
These areas had been supplied from the Mt Grand Water Treatment Plant since the 5th of October, to allow routine maintenance of the Quarry Hill Reservoir. ›read more
Dunedin Police kept busy

A steady stream of jobs have kept Dunedin Police busy for the past 24 hours.
As well as the incident at Bathgate Park, a search warrant was executed at a Maitland Street address, where Police found a number of goods allegedly stolen from Briscoes last week.
Police are speaking with a 34 year old man, and say charges are likely to follow. ›read more

The Dunedin City Council has announced that it will be changing it's 'I am Dunedin' branding slogan, which has been in effect since 2001.
The Council is calling for ideas from local and national creative sources, and the final product will be decided by a number of Dunedin's institutions. ›see story
Dunedin Police have busy weekend

Police have experienced an especially busy weekend.
Senior Sergeant Trevor Thomson says 34 arrests were made in the city between 12am Saturday and 12am this morning.
Offences included disorder, breach of bail, theft, assault and drink driving.
And it seems the fairer sex were better behaved over the weekend with only four of those arrested being female. ›read more
University approves plans for stadium buildings

The University of Otago Council has approved plans for the first of its buildings adjacent to Forsyth Barr Stadium at University Plaza.
The building will provide facilities for the University’s Foundation Studies programme, the Unipol Gymnasium, a physiotherapy clinic and a café servicing both students as well as the public. ›read more
