Chairman of Dunedin City Holdings Limited, Paul Hudson, presented the score card of the council's business arm at a boutique media briefing this morning.
DCHL reports a slight dip in profit compared with the previous period, however Hudson says they're still on the positive side of the ledger. ›see story

Many motorists not obeying speed limit around parked school buses

Concerns raised by some school bus drivers have prompted Police to urge motorists to slow down when passing school buses.
Inspector Alastair Dickie says the law is that motorists must reduce their speed to 20 kilometres per hour when passing a bus displaying a 'school bus' sign, which is stopped on the side of the road to set down and pick up children. ›read more
Official cash rate remains steady

For the seventh consecutive time, the Reserve Bank announced this morning the official cash rate will remain steady at 2.5%.
Forsyth Barr investment advisor Tony Conroy is not surprised by the announcement, but says the most interesting aspect was the accompanying statement which confirms rates probably will increase towards the middle of the year. ›read more

The meeting was part of an annual language and cultural visit from the Yasuda Womens University of Horoshima, and they were treated to some excellent cultural performances. ›see story
Otago experiences drop in median house prices

Otago was the only region to experience a drop in median house prices this February, according to figures released today by the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand.
Statistics showed Otago prices were down almost half a percent from $223,000 in February 2009, to $222,000 last month. ›read more

The second annual DCC walk to work day began early for some, with reports of one man walking in from Mosgiel, and a group walking from South Dunedin to the Octagon.
However, people from north of the city came in on the Taieri Gorge train in order to walk to work from the railway station, some even came bearing gifts. ›see story
