A massive shift in the operation and ownership of the Forsyth Barr Stadium has been recommended to the Dunedin City Council.
A review of the stadium has been completed, and the council will consider all associated recommendations next week.
It's proposed the companies that manage the stadium become council-controlled, and that $30m of debt is transferred to the council.
Ratepayers may also need to contribute an additional $1.8m to the stadium each year for the next decade.
Council staff are working on a plan to minimise the impact on ratepayers.
All options will be considered as part of the council's next long term plan.
