A new chief executive has been confirmed for Dunedin International Airport.

Richard Roberts has been appointed to the role.

It's a promotion for Roberts, who has worked at the airport for 15 years.

Most recently he's been the general manager of infrastructure and service delivery.

He'll take over from long-serving airport boss John McCall, who announced his retirement earlier this year.

McCall will finish in the role in March.

Roberts will be the airport's second chief executive in its history, when he starts the role in April.
