Police are warning North East Valley and Opoho residents to be on the lookout for thieves currently targeting the area.

In the past two weeks several burglaries and thefts have been reported there, indicating one or more thieves are active in the suburb.

Over the weekend a car in Evans Street was broken into, and a cellphone, wallet and cash was stolen.

Elsewhere, a rental property in Surrey Street was burgled, with high-tech computer gaming equipment stolen.

A newly-built house in Brighton Road was broken into, and a television worth more than $2000 was stolen.

And in Andersons Bay, $400 in cash was stolen from a tin inside the kitchen of a Hunt Street home.
