Thousands of people swarmed the tiny settlement of Outram at the weekend, for the arrival of Cavalcade trail riders and walkers.

They watched as hundreds of horses were paraded through the streets, many hitched to old style wagons.

And despite the risk of disaster amidst the dry high country conditions, it was a problem-free event.
