Up to $8000 is available for community projects in the West Harbour area.

The money's available to West Harbour residents and community groups in $1000 grants.

It's held by the Thankyou Charitable Trust, which was launched in 2013 to distribute funds through the work of Thankyou Payroll.

The organisation provides a free national payroll service for businesses and charities, and earns money through an IRD subsidy.

So far it's distributed about $20,000 to community groups in Dunedin, Christchurch and Wellington.

Successful applicants of the latest West Harbour grants are due to be notified shortly.
