The Dunedin City Council is working on a plan to reduce the emissions that it manages.

It's responsible for emissions from landfill and those associated with the city's electricity supply.

The council's also trying to reduce emissions from its other operations.

Most of the city's emissions come from landfill, totalling about 75%.

And emissions associated with electricity supply are the city's second largest.

The council, as the organisation responsible for Dunedin's electricity supply, is one of the top 200 electricity users in the country.
