A male youth is the first to be charged in relation to a vicious attack that left a fellow teenager with a fractured jaw.

Police have arrested a 16 year old male in relation to the incident, which occurred at a Malvern Street party on Saturday night.

The teenager faces a single charge of assault and is due to appear in the Youth Court tomorrow morning.

The 17 year old male victim underwent surgery in hospital on Sunday.

Police believe four or five youth were involved in the assault, and are still to interview several people.
