Local organisations are collectively receiving almost a million dollars in extra funding through the Otago Community Trust.

The Dunedin women's refuge has $25,000, and the Malcam Charitable Trust $50,000.

Just under that amount is being given to the Dunedin Indoor Sports Venues Trust for lighting upgrades.

The largest single grant in Dunedin is $175,000 for the local arts festival.

And the medical research foundation's receiving $70,000.
