Situation

A west to northwesterly airflow blows over New Zealand today and will remain for a few days, with cold fronts washing over the South Island. On Wednesday and Thursday a trough of low pressure will move quickly across the North Island, while another cold front moves over the South Island. Airflow will then tend more southwesterly and become colder from Friday, with very cold polar air and south to southeasterly airflow arriving for the weekend.

Dunedin

Fine tonight and sunny periods at first tomorrow but cloud increasing during the day and westerlies freshening; a period of colder southwesterlies and showers tomorrow evening.
Mostly fine and sunny on Wednesday with frosts and light southwesterlies.

North Otago
