The theft and destruction of a car is being investigated by police, along with several burglaries from the weekend.

Officers found a Toyota Caldina crashed at the corner of Royal Terrace and London Street early Saturday.

It had been stolen just hours earlier from Ings Avenue in St Clair.

Police say the car was left unlocked with keys inside it, and a child's seat and snow chains are missing from the vehicle.

Meanwhile, a church in North Road has been broken into, and electronic equipment stolen.

Police say missing items include a television, laptop, monitor and speakers.
