Eight appeals have been lodged against the city council's proposed local alcohol policy.

They'll be considered by the national Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority.

Appellants include the police, hospitality associations, supermarkets and liquor retailers.

It'll be months before the appeals are likely to be considered, and in the meantime existing rules remain in place.
