University Delighted
The University of Otago is thrilled a High Court judge has upheld its right to discipline students for off-campus behaviour.
The Otago University Students Association ordered the judicial review after the University used its official Code of Conduct to discipline some students involved in this year's Toga Parade.
In a statement released this morning, University Vice-Chancellor Professor David Skegg said he was delighted but not surprised by the outcome.
Skegg says the finding removes any lingering doubts about the legitimacy of the stance the University has taken with the Code, and its application.
