Otago University Students’ Association to scrap next years Toga parade

Following this year's unruly Toga parade, in which students pelted eggs, and vandalised shop fronts The Otago University Students’ Association has decided to scrap next year's event.

The decision was made after the April release of an independent report into this year’s event, conducted by former University Proctor Ron Chambers.

OUSA spokesperson Stephen Alexander, says the event was a fun, vibrant way to welcome students to the community.

The association is will now consider different options for Orientation week in 2010.
