Students to take part in Amnesty International Freedom Challenge
High school and tertiary students in Dunedin are preparing to make some noise for the rights to freedom of speech, assembly and association next week, as part of Amnesty International's Freedom Challenge.
The Freedom Challenge is a nationwide week of youth action for human rights held annually at this time of year.
This year's theme aims to highlight the plight of three student activists from Myanmar who have been imprisoned for their role in organising peaceful protests in 2008.
Student's of Otago Girls High School, Taieri College, and the University of Otago are taking part in a number of activities and events to promote the cause next week.
