Improvement in cycle safety needed

Cycling as a mode of transport has been trumpeted as being sustainable and environmentally friendly.

But with more than half the cyclists in crashes that result in injury under 25 years old, safety - for the young at least - needs to be improved.

A pilot programme running at two Dunedin primary schools is trying to deal with that issue.
