Kiwi dollar reaches new record high

Lack of action by the European Central Bank meant the Kiwi dollar rose to a new record high against the Euro overnight.

One New Zealand dollar bought as many as 66 euro cents at one point - the most in a decade.

It will mean more pain for New Zealand exporters, but a gain for importers and Kiwis buying items overseas.

9 Local News this week found local courier companies had doubled their business in recent months, thanks to online shopping.

The Kiwi dollar also increased against the US dollar and the British pound, but fell against the Japanese yen.
