Night out ends poorly

A Dunedin man's night out went downhill fast early today, as alcohol took its toll.

The 25 year old was drinking at a city bar, and was arrested shortly after midnight, as he left, for being intoxicated.

Police say he made the mistake of allegedly slapping the female constable who was dealing with him.

Things only got worse when he got back to the police station, and was found to have an arrest warrant for failing to appear in court.

Police added a charge of assaulting a police officer, and the man appeared in court today.

The officer was not injured.
