Marriage Equality Bill passes first reading
The Marriage Equality Bill comfortably passed its first reading in Parliament by 78 to 40, late last night.
Spokesperson for the campaign, Conrad Reyners, says a vast majority of kiwis support the Bill.
He says two thirds of New Zealanders are in favour of marriage equality, and want to see the law changed.
The campaign is now advocating for the public to make submissions on the Bill.
