Green Party applauds asset sales decision
The Green Party has applauded National's decision to delay asset sales until next year.
The Government has announced the sale of shares of Mighty River Power will now go ahead in March.
The decision follows a landmark Waitangi Tribunal ruling a week ago, urging the government to put the first power company sale on hold while it negotiates with iwi over affected waterways.
Green Party Co-leader Dr Russel Norman says the delay allows time for a proposed citizens' initiated referendum on the issue to take place.
