Athenaeum library plans to stay put

Dunedin's 142 year old Athenaeum library plans to stay put in the city, despite the swirl of change affecting the building it once owned, and still occupies.

The historic library has been a forgotten player in an issue that took a surprising turn late yesterday, when a planned sale was canned.

But a pre-existing lease, and healthy finances, means whatever happens to number 22 the Octagon, the library will survive.
