Council considers commemorating 150 years of local government in Dunedin

A major moment in Dunedin's history may be marke, with investigations likely on how to commemorate 150 years of local government.

The DCC will decide on Monday whether or not to begin work on how to celebrate the anniversary of the constitution of the city of Dunedin.

That anniversary occurs in August 2015, and marks the start of a continuous line of mayors and councillors.

The council will vote on a recommendation chief executive Paul Orders should investigate suitable ways to commemorate the event.
