Drink driving checkpoints result in charges
Work by a police checkpoint drink drive team in Dunedin over the weekend resulted in eight people facing charges.
Police describe the result as disappointing, particularly as half those people have previous convictions.
Checkpoints were placed on Dunedin's major routes on Friday and Saturday night for the test weekend.
In addition, local police reported a number of drink-driving arrests.
Those included a woman with seven passengers in an overloaded car, who ran a red light and drove with her headlights off.
