Shark tracked to Australia
A good southern man with a big smile and a glint in his eye has headed away for an Aussie holiday.
Australian scientists have recorded a New Zealand great white shark, tagged by NIWA and the Department of Conservation at Stewart Island in March 2011, on their receivers.
The almost three metre shark known as Meadsy was picked up on a receiver 10km off Bondi Beach.
The shark had crossed the Tasman Sea in 21 days at an average speed of 96km per day.
