Survey shows income increase the lowest since 1999

The New Zealand Income Survey shows the median incomes of those in employment rose by just 0.7% in the year to June - the lowest since 1999.

When adjusted for inflation, median household weekly income is down 6% since 2008.

Service and Food Workers Union National Secretary, John Ryall, says the figures will be no surprise to the country's lowest earners.

He says the growing group of working poor just got poorer.
