Cruise ship season starting on Sunday
The cruise ship season starts on Sunday, and a record breaking summer is expected to have a strong economic impact in Dunedin.
89 cruise ships are due to visit between now and April, with 161,000 passengers.
The DCC's business development unit says 370 front line tourism operators have received specific training on dealing with cruise ship passengers.
As well, Otago Polytechnic has teamed up with Port Otago to deliver free wireless internet to Port Chalmers.
That initiative is a bid to encourage more passengers and crew to get off the vessels and explore the city.
