Tourists pump almost $10 billion into the economy

Overseas tourists pumped close to $10 billion into the economy in the year to April.

That meant tourism expenditure contributed more than 15% of New Zealand’s total exports of goods and services.

New figures show the tourism industry employed almost 120,000 full-time equivalents.

Statistics New Zealand figures released today show that was 6.2% ercent of total employment in New Zealand.
