Heavenly bodies have been in the news recently, with a small, local moon coming between the earth and a boiling sphere of hydrogen and helium, also known as the sun.
The partial eclipse was only partially seen in Dunedin due to cloud.
But a local society was on hand as usual to provide equipment and knowledge for locals keen on astronomy.
The Dunedin Astronomical Society has a new president, and he is here to tell us about the society, and his role in it.
