Work will soon begin on the 150 year old Ross Creek reservoir to bring it back into service as part of the city's water supply.

Construction worth $6.1 million will see the dam embankment restored, and new pumping stations and pipelines built.

But the work will mean the end of the line for one stand of native bush, and tracks that wind through it.
