A full assessment of the St Clair seawall is expected to start next week.

Dunedin City Council staff believe the integrity of the wall is still intact, but will have the entire structure assessed as a precautionary measure.

The Council says the assessment will be carried out by contract engineers.

The DCC emphasise the importance of people staying out of the cordoned-off area while work is continuing.
