Latest figures from Statistics New Zealand shows retail spending has flatlined.

Electronic card transactions levelled off last month, despite a small increase in May.

Spending rose in three retail industries in June, but it fell in three others.

Fuel and hospitality had the largest rises, while durables had the largest fall.

Fuel was up $12m or 1.6%.

Hospitality was up $3.7m, and durables was down by 0.7%.

Overall, core retail spending - which excludes vehicle-related industries - fell 0.4% in June.
